Earning a living through daily street work is normal in Chile. Multiple types of jobs, both regulated and informal, require that people have their feet on the sidewalk all day.
What happens when these workers want to go to the bathroom, in a country without public toilets?
This project seeks to show the reality of people who are invisible to the Chilean government, that depend on the benevolence of their neighbors to fulfill their basic needs on a daily basis.
This last thing is what gives the project its name: “Me presta baño” which translates to “Would you lend me your bathroom?”
A series of urban interventions using B/W photography invited people to reflect on this national reality.
A virtual platform was created to exhibit what we were doing on the streets. We encouraged citizens to share, interact and comment on it through physical installations and online using the hashtag #meprestabaño
